Help getting started
« on: August 25, 2014, 08:43:39 am »
Hi,

I received my Almond+ couple of days back and I was so excited to get started. Sadly, the happiness was short lived. For the last 2 days it has been an unending struggle to connect to the internet. I use a DSL connection called YOU broadband in India, and I just can't to get it working. I have been using the Belkin router and it works great with the same settings. Basically, the ISP needs me to input the username and password, and set the type as PPPOE. I have provided the same and it still doesn't work. I went back to my Belkin router and it works great. ISP is not ready to help me as they feel it's a router issue. What am I supposed to do now?

Regards,
Raju

Have you upgraded to the latest R065 firmware?

I had to update my router's WAN MAC ID with my ISP. I had updated the WiFi MAC ID and hence it was not working. It's all sorted now.

Hi Raj,

Could you elaborate on what you mean by you had to update you router's WAN MAC ID with your ISP?
I'm in Dubai and I'm having the same issue - PPPoE doesn’t work with the Almond+
Did you actually call your ISP and have them enter the MAC Address on their side? and they were willing to do that?? I can't see them entertaining that option here, it would be a nightmare if each person had to register their MAC Address with the ISP?

Thanks for any insight you provide.

Hi Khaled,

Yes, that's about right. Here, I had the option to update MAC address from the ISP's portal, but I took their help to do that anyway as I figured out the issue while on call.
