LCD Screen does not timeout
« on: September 28, 2014, 09:36:26 am »
I have the LCD timeout set to 30 seconds with a lock pin.  I left the A+ with the "Connected sensors" main screen showing, and it had not timed out after several minutes.  I switched it back to the home screen, and then it timed out as it should.

Shouldn't it have timed out no matter which screen I was on (and then presumably started over at the home screen after unlock, though I suppose you could argue for starting back up on whichever screen was on when it timed out).

Sounds like a bug.  Minor, but thought you'd want to know.

It's not a bug, it's a current limitation of the screen lock. We'll get it sorted out in a future firmware upgrade.

Was going to mention the same thing but I see it is being addressed. Thanks!

Actually, I would not want the Pin to activate for all apps.

When we get the Home Automation, I would like the screen to time out, but have a selection to for example access the light controls or similar without a pin, but to get to the admin parts you needed a pin.

I'm guessing this is also in the limitation but I see the same not timing out if the screen is woken up and the unlock screen is shown.

As for home automation - I agree 100% that some sections might not need to be locked down.

That's what this is for - http://blog.securifi.com/how-to-password-protects-lcd-ui-apps-on-your-almond

Go to settings, Screen Settings and have a look at what the Screen Timeout time is set to.

I presume you didn't get an early beta/developer unit off eBay? As they have a hardware limitation so the screen backlight can't be turned off.
