Chamberlain MyQ Garage door opener
« on: May 28, 2014, 09:25:40 am »
Hi,

I have a slightly older chamberlain garage door opener(whisperdrive I think) that I installed a MyQ internet gateway on in order to be able to control it remotely via their App. It works flawlessly and I am wondering if there is any way to tie that in with the Almond+. Obviously, I haven't thought through it enough myself but figured I'd see if anyone else had pondered about this as well and had any bright ideas. :-)

Thanks.

Well, it's Wi-Fi, so it's not entirely impossible to add support for. We're planning on doing some bridge software for our developers that will give them some basic bits that they need to add support for any IP based device to the Almond+, but this is a few months out yet.

Any update on this?
I would love to connect my garage door to my Home Automation system.  One stop shop for all  :)

The bridge software is coming along, but please understand that it's not the only thing our software team is working on and it'll most likely be a couple of months before it's ready for release and it'll be something that'll require the use of the SDK to actually add support for new devices to the Almond+.
The first thing that will take advantage of the bridge software will be the Philips Hue hub which we expect to have support for in the next month or so. That said, even once that's done, the bridge software won't be released straight away, as we still need to turn that code into something a bit more generic and provide some kind of instructions on how to use it and these things takes time.
Please keep in mind that we're a small company with limited resources and in as much as we'd love to be able to support every request we get tomorrow, we simply can't.

Lars,

No problem, I understand.  It's just great to hear that there is progress on this.  I would just like to someday have all my connected devices be able to be controlled through the Almond+

Has there been any progress on bridging for the Chamberlain MyQ?

Thanks

Afraid not and I don't have any ETA on when the IP bridge software is expected.

Any news? I, too, am also looking for a garage door opener that integrates with the A+

Before I put in smartthings, I was using tilt sensors to tell almond about the state of the doors, and had rules for lights when the doors opened. But you still need the myQ app, as there isn't open source for people to work out apps like ST. If you want my tilt sensors, let me know.
