How to setup as range extender on a non-broadcast SSID
« on: July 05, 2014, 10:28:54 pm »
I don't broadcast my wireless network SSID, so of course the Almond doesn't find it.  Is there any way to enter the SSID manually?

This is sadly not possible as of right now. The software team are working on a solution, but there's currently no ETA for it, as we're busy getting the Almond+ out to our backers.

OK - thanks for the clarification anyway.

Is there any way to set the Almond to not broadcast the SSID if I have it set as an access point?  I'm thinking I perhaps could run a wired connection to it, and have it act as an access point.

Yes, that's possible, but if I remember correctly off the top of my head, you have to disable the SSID broadcast in the web UI.

I was checking about the SSID not broadcasting in AP mode and you should try this:
- you can open first the web ui using the URL you can find clicking on the "web adminstrater" icon of almond
- then you can add  /wireless/basic.asp in a browser (ex: 192.168.1.140/wireless/basic.asp) and click enter
- then you will click on RADIO OFF

That's it
 :)
