Remote Management
« on: July 14, 2014, 07:57:41 pm »
Does anyone know how to enable remote management of the router so I can access the router remotely? Couldn't find this option.
I hope in the upcoming firmware upgrade, some commonly used features are clearly spelled out and easily available from the NutOS

We have't add a certain Firewall rule for enabling just remote UI access yet. But it will be available in future.

Just curious to see if there was any updated information on Remote Management. Thanks!

If you go into Settings and then WAN access in the LCD UI, you can now enable SSH, FTP and web access.

Thanks Lars! I did find that but was curious if we had to use a specific port when accessing the router through our external IP address outside the home network?

I really do appreciate all the help!!

Good question and that's clearly something that should've been provided in the UI.
Let me find out.

Thanks for looking into that Lars. I know you are super busy but that would be super helpful as I am away from home a lot and have to make adjustments for others.

We're using standard port, so 21 for FTP, 80 for HTTP - yeah, no HTTPS yet, I'm chasing for it - and 22 for SSH. These need to be enabled one by one in Settings/WAN Access in R065.
We'll get the port numbers in there  next to the Enable/Disable buttons and further down the line we'll add options to change the default.

Thanks for the port numbers! I went ahead and enabled web access and tried going to my external ip address from a device outside my network and added the :80 at the end of it, but it said it could not be found. I apologize for the stupidity, I just want to make sure I can access it.

Thanks again!

Without knowing what type of setup you have, it's really impossible for me to offer any advice here.

Lars, I am also unable to remotely manage my Almond+ after enabling http from the touchscreen (after upgrading to R065 of course).  I can't help you with jgates1's setup but I'm running a Motorola SB6141 on Cox Cable connected directly to my Almond+. I have an external DDNS setup that's working correctly and I have successfully configured port forwarding for UltraVNC to an inside PC so the connection from outside to the private network works. Hopefully that helps some, please let me know if there is anything else about my setup that you need to know that will help figure this out.  And HTTPS would be awesome as well.  ;)

Thanks!

You have to open following Ports for Remote Management
Edit:
For NutOS open Port 80  --> http://<Your public IP>
For OpenWRT open 90   --> http://<Your public IP>:90

HTTPS is not yet supported in current Firmware

Lars, Can I get edit access to the wiki so I can add that information in?

I actually have the opposite problem. I hit my public IP and get the router login page  rather than the web server behind the router that has port 80 forwarded to the IP address of it. This is not good for me, and I'd like to change it.

What settings do I need to change to allow administration of the Almond + internally only, but not remotely (at least at this point, which may change with future firmware iterations) ??? I've looked all over and am unable to find something concrete to change. This worked previously on my DD-WRT Linksys router.

Anyone? Thanks!

@AcidLotus:
In the latest firmware (R065) You can choose that setting on the LCD UI:
Settings > WAN Access > Web Access > Disable
