Almond+ & Plex
« on: July 18, 2014, 11:33:39 am »
I'm not sure if anyone else is having this issue, but I figure I would ask it here.
Ever since I got my Almond+, the channels on my Plex server don't seem to work.  I'm not sure if it's a firewall issue or if anyone else is having a similar issue

It will work if you enable upnp in Almond plus.

Please do the following

Thank you.  That is helpful for other issues and I did turn it on, but my issue in PLEX seems to be this since that did not resolve it:
2014-07-18 12:48:45,843 (7f1cfeffd700) :  DEBUG (networking:172) - Requesting 'http://nine.plugins.plexapp.com/apps/all.json...
2014-07-18 12:48:45,844 (7f1cfeffd700) :  INFO (storeservice:493) - Failed to fetch Plex Online data - the store probably won't work

It seems the plex server can no longer communicate with the Online data from plexapp.  Would there be any reason for that?

Thank you

The link you posted (http://nine.plugins.plexapp.com/apps/all.json) opens fine in my browser on my desktop PC, does it open in yours?

I realise the Plex server says it can't grab it, but can you open it on a different machine on the same network? If not, is there an error of some kind shown?

Forwarding port 34000 to the Plex box was enough to get it working for me.

Is it possible, now or with future updates, to run the plex server off of the A+ with an external HD attached?

@raks1024: It is currently not possible to use the A+ as a Plex server.
It does support some file/media sharing via samba, so if you have a samba-compliant player that should work.
I don't think they have plans for having the A+ as a Plex-running server.

Guys, please keep in mind that we're not trying to build a NAS here.
That said, it's possible that one of the developers can port Plex over and considering it can run on far less powerful hardware than the Almond+, I don't see any technical limitations here.

I’ve turned on UPnP and forwarded 34000 on external and internal ports with TCP and UDP protocols, but still can’t connect to the server externally.

Any leads as to what I’m doing wrong?

Thanks,
Chris

I'm also having the same problem. I've forwarded the correct form and turned on uPNP and it's not working... Any ideas?

Ill try it again tomorrow at work but Im pretty sure I got my PLEX to work outside of my network by simply forwarding over port 34000.

Another UPDATE:

So I decided to go into the WEB based version of Plex.....I figured if it works there then the A= must be doing its job and its just something wrong with my Surface Pro 3.
Well I was able to see my library on the web.  Im no expert but if I can see it on the web..that means the right port is forwarded and the A+ is allowing permissions as it should....

So I tried to access my sever on my iPhone and ipad....and nothing...so something is wrong...

Ill check my server settings when I get home
