I have been using Plex for a couple years and I am nnow using the A+ as my router. I have the ability to acess my server from remote locaions (I just checked to make sure I am not lying). Do you a Plex account? That is what I beleive will get you remote acesss.

Remote access doesn't work for me. I can only access it locally from different computers by forwarding the port. However, I have the same problem everyone else has reported with no external access working.

Looking on the phone, it seems to think the client is on the 10.x internal IP address, not on my external IP address. I think this may be a problem with the Plex server app detecting the external IP through the A+ for some reason.

The web interface does show "Last seen: 12:40 PM" but if I click on details I get no address or port, which obviously means it won't be able to connect. I'll open a ticket with the Plex people as well.

I was able to fix this problem by going into the PMS settings and re-connecting the server. It still doesn't properly auto announce (I had to manually put the IP address in) but at least it is working at least kind of.

I don't think the additional ports need to be forwarded, nor uPnP turned on, as all I have forwarded is 32400 and it definitely is streaming to my phone across LTE (so not possible to be on the internal network). The announcing through to the Plex app and the auto set-up/etc. still seems to be broken, though.

(Edit: you can do this by going to the Plex machine and then opening http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html#!/settings/server in a browser -- then click Disconnect next to "server is mapped to port XXXXX" and then you'll see the option to reconnect it there.)

Okay fixed the issue..

All I had to do is checkmark the option " Manually specify port..." and I entered 34000 and hit the UPDATE buttn right next to it....and BOOOM...I can access outside of my network

Can someone give me an exact step by step tutorial on how to get the port forwarding correct on the Almond +. I feel like I have done everything in here and still get the following error:
You have successfully signed your server in to Plex, but we were unable to reach it from outside your network.

If you would like to enable this now, you will need to configure your router or firewall to allow Plex to contact your server. Please refer to our Connecting a Server article for more information.

My server shows up online on the plex website, but that is the extent of it working

Not sure what's going on for you guys, but I got PLEX working just fine outside my network. I'll post up some snaps of my port settings when I get home.

Sorry.. took me a little while.

Your computer or server needs to have a static IP address in order for this to work. Look on google to figure out how to accomplish that for your specific situation and then follow the steps below.

Steps for Almond+ Router:
  • Go to Advanced tab on Almond router
  • Click on Forwarding button
  • Go down to New Port Forward Entry section type in the following
  • Rule Name: PLEX
  • Protocol: TCP+UDP
  • External Port: 32400
  • Internal IP Address: This is the static IP address of your server/computer (mine is 10.10.10.2 as shown below)
  • Internal Port: 32400
  • Click Add Entry
  • Click Save

When done there should be an entry that looks similar to this.

Steps for PLEX:
Go to the web interface then follow steps below.
  • Get to the Settings page
  • Make sure you're in the server section
  • Go to Connect
  • Click Show Advanced
  • Check the Manually Specify Port box
  • Enter in 32400
  • Click Update

See below for picture of what it should look like when done.

You should be all set now.  ;)
