First Alert Lowes Iris Fire Alarm and CO2
« on: July 22, 2014, 04:25:26 pm »
Just got my fire alarm paired.  Seems to work on the router UI but says not supported on the web portal.  Any others play with this sensor yet?

Wow, that's interesting, as I don't think we've tested that specific product.
I'll talk to the software team and make sure we get it into the connect site as well.

Awesome.  Yeah it is a great value only 39.95 at Lowes and it does both co2 and smoke detector.  It showed up as a smoke detector on the UI.  Thanks

I want to say it is this:

http://www.lowes.com/pd_505521-347-ZCOMBO_0__

The Lowe's down the street from me has a several, but it's in an end cap area, not in the HA nor the fire alarm aisles, whereas another Lowe's had one near the Iris display

I'm very reluctant to buy any of the Lowe's Iris products. I bought a door/window sensor (Wish I'd checked this site first) and it didn't work, even with claims on the Lowe's website saying it works with non-iris devices.

The smoke alarm is Z-Wave, not ZigBee and it's made by First Alert and you can buy them elsewhere too.

Lars is correct.  The alarm is made by First Alert and the packaging clearly states that it is a Z-Wave product.

Lowe's just happens to be a brick and mortar that carries these products and they advertise it works with their own Iris system.

I'm tempted to go out and buy one.

Anyway trying to get ideas for what other devices I could invest in, I found this discussion thread on micasaverde that had a lot of technical information about this particular CO2/Smoke Alarm.

Maybe some of it can be useful to Securifi's HA/Z-Wave team?

In-case anyone is looking to grab these
Lowe's is currently taking an extra $10 off purchases $50 or more with coupon code 470000000090830.

I just got 2 for $75 tax included.

Oooh!  Price adjustment time!

I ended up buying one, but discovered my house uses wired sensors, so that if one goes off, they all do. I'm torn whether I should mount it beside an existing wired/non-z-wave sensor, or wait until a wired z-wave sensor is available to completely replace my current ones.

I'm waiting for wired sensors. That way, if any detector in the house detects smoke, the one connected to the Almond can alert me.

Did these wind up getting supported in the web UI? I'm looking at buying a few to replace an my existing alarms.

We've bought a couple of these and we'll make sure we support the CO part as well as right now I think they might only work as smoke alarms, but I'm not 100% sure. And of course we'll support them in all UI's.

First alert smoke detector
« Reply #14 on: September 13, 2014, 01:53:03 pm »
I'm wondering if anyone has tried the first alert zsmoke or zcombo, which are sold at Lowe's and are said to work with iris? I know other iris branded sensors are not supported but I would like to get these smoke and smoke/carbon monoxide detectors. I may get them and try them anyway but if someone has tried them and can save me the hassle that would be great. Thanks in advance!
