lowes IRIS thermostat connection "How To" ?
« on: July 27, 2014, 06:19:24 pm »
Looking for some help connecting the 2. I have gone through going into the CT101 menu and hitting mate and pressing add sensor on the almond, but the CT101 "times out" and nothing changes on the almond screen. No sensors show up when I cancel out of the add screen.

My router and thermostat are seperated by 10-12 feet if this matters.

That might be a tad too far away as Z-Wave has a fairly short association distance.
That said, has the thermostat been connected to a different gateway at any point?
Also, it's a bit odd to add and I've had problems once in a while to add the one we have in the office which we use for demos.

So I got the thermostat connected and then later fro some reason I lost the ability to program it? Now I am stuck with the very conservative presets until I can figure it out. I have removed power from the thermostat , reset it, removed the it from the connected sensors, restarted the router to no avail. I can not get the option for programming back. Any thoughts?

Z-Wave devices have to be removed from the gateway before they can be added again.
Go to Add Sensors, tap on Remove and then "add" the thermostat again and it'll be removed.
Now you'll be able to add it again.
Z-Wave sensors shouldn't be removed inside the Connected Sensors part, but we're aware this might not be 100% clear.
ZigBee sensors can be removed there though, as they work differently from Z-Wave sensors and can be reset without the need of a gateway/controller.
Excuse the confusion and I'll get some better instructions up on the Wiki.

I do remove it as you suggest. So the method of removal is not the issue.

Well, I've been using one for the past six months or so for devotees and in as much as it's a bit quirky to add, I've always been able to add it once it's been removed properly. Maybe try removing it again and then add it?
