Sreeen Saver - at least a simple clock
« on: August 12, 2014, 09:43:51 pm »
Maybe I haven't figured it out but the screen is very bright...  Great screen though!

Surprisingly the time isn't displayed anywhere on the home or menu pages.

I don't like that bright menu up all the time.  It is pretty annoying actually.

Some helpful screen savers with say, just a clock or clock + plus interesting stats could be cool.  Then the menu could pop up if the screen is touched.

An option to turn off the LCD backlight is coming in the firmware update on Friday.
No clock yet though, but it'll be there in a future firmware upgrade, alongside with the weather app.

What about showing some stats and graphs or real-time bandwidth usage? There are so many cool possibilities with that screen.

Lars, Will the firmware update coming Friday also include the ability to lock the screen with a PIN?

Can you update the Known Issues thread, or create a new one, that details what will be fixed/updated/changed in the new firmware?

I believe there's an SDK coming as some point after the developer backer exclusivity period is up, which should allow some nice apps to be developed for the screen.

Yes, there will be an LCD pin lock.

We'll post full release notes for the new firmware tomorrow.

+1 for this.  I'm surprised at how much I miss the blinking lights on my old router-- and how often I glanced at it when walking by to see if something was hammering my network unexpectedly.

I was using this script on my dd-wrt router and liked it quite a bit: https://csdprojects.co.uk/ddwrt/  Something like that (but prettier, Almond+ style) on the web interface would be awesome-- and something like that on the LCD would be even awesomer.
