Almond+ with FiOS Router

I was hoping for some advice on my network setup. At one end of my apartment, I have the FiOS router hardwired to my TV, DLNA server, AV Receiver and Apple TV and wifi using WPA2 with the network name 'networkName'. I took my new Almond+ to the other end of my place, hooked up a coaxial network adaptor to another cable outlet on the same FiOS network and, from the adaptor, ran the ethernet cable to Almond+. set up the 2.4 Ghz with SSID 'networkName' (same as FiOS router) and the 5 Ghz as 'networkName+' - also, the Almond+ is set up as an access point.

We have iPhones, iPads, MacBooks and other miscellaneous devices using the wifi - I moved what I can to 'networkName+'. I'd like to have one network where I can see everything and have devices throughout the house just connect to the strongest signal. What's the best way to go about this? I'd also like to, at some point, use the Almond+ with sensors. Thanks a bunch for any information you can give.

2.4 is a shorter wave so it penetrates further, but data is slower.
So I use that network for all my smart home devices and phones that will be around the yard, etc.
I would us the + or 5 ghz network for your laptops, appleTVs, and other streaming devices. Range isn't as good but speed is MUCH faster.
The new WiFi driver is better (hard reboot your almond plus (hold the button on the top) after upgrading firmware.
The wifi will continue to improve as they release more firmware updates.

I am getting 200 MB/s on my 2010 MacBookPro. Also, make sure you change the channel of each network. I live in a high density neighborhood and most people never change theirs. This will also improve speed and range.

For my current (non-almond+ network) I have 2 wrt54g's running it. One is on the north side of my house, and acts as the router and AP. The one I have on the south side of my house is in AP mode.
The SSID and password are the same on both AP's, but the channels are set differently.
My devices roam between the networks well.

Thank you all for your replies - they've all led to my current solution. With the new firmware update, I'm able to use my Almond+ as an access point and I've shut off the wireless on my Verizon. Since I'm using another cable outlet in my apartment and connected a moca adaptor (and connected the Almond+ to that), it's as if I directly connected the Almond to a LAN port on my Verizon Actiontec. My one last issue is that I cannot change the IP address on my Almond - I understand that, at the current moment, this cannot be done when using it as an Access Point. If anyone knows any different, please let me know.

You can force it from your main router if it can issue static IP leases.
