WiFi Speeds and Settings

Just loaded the new firmware and setup Almond+ in AP mode.  Using a wired connection to the laptop a speedtest of my internet connection shows 50-60Mbits. Run the same test with the laptop 2 feet from the router but connected by 40MHZ bandwidth 2.5GZ wireless n I get 35Mbits. Is that expected ?

Then try and connect via 5GHz - new Dell laptop which support AC and cannot get it to connect. Managed to get an iPad to connect to 5GHz when in the A mode.  Tried a hard reset and nothing changes. Surprised AC does not work and 5GHz doesn't have a N setting.

Do you know what kind of Wi-Fi card you have in the notebook? If it's what known as a 1x1 card, then yes, that's expected.

You're the first to report an issue with a Dell notebook, so can you provide a bit more detail, especially with regards to the Wi-Fi card.

Dell laptop has an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260

Any thoughts on the wireless speed on 2.5GHz ?

Ah, yes, my bad, at the moment the 2.4GHz network is limited to 20MHz due to a bug in the drivers that we're working on solving, hence why it's only running at half speed.

I have one of the Intel cards in the office and I'll make sure we get it tested ASAP, but the whole team is really busy with the shipping right now, so it might take a little while before we get that done.

Any chance you could put up another known issues docs - knowing you know about the 20mHZ issue already would have saved me testing ;-)

So dropping down to the channels in the 36-40 range rather than the default 140+ channel allows the dell to connect on 5GHz. Even though set to AC I get a 802.11n connection with a slow 35Mpbs.

I've noticed that before on other devices, that they only can handle certain channels.
