Chromecast not connecting

I'm trying to connect my chromecast to the 2.4GHz wifi but after entering the password it throws an error. I've been able to join other devices to this network. Anyone have any ideas?

Never mind a little better google-fu and I found the issue. Apparently chromecast cannot connect to a wifi with channel set to auto.

Thanks but my wifi is not set to channel auto, its by default set to channel 9

I have the same problem. Have changed different Wireless Modes as well as channels but ChromeCast unable to join my 2.4GHz wifi. It doesn't even see my 5GHz wifi.

Have flashed latest R065 firmware, still no luck.
Has anyone got Chromecast working together with their Almond+?

I'm not having any connection issues and I've been using one at home for a couple of months now.
I'll do some more testing today to see if I can reproduce this problem and sorry for the delay of getting to it, but I've been manically busy.

I'm really sorry, but I can't reproduce this, I can stream from 5GHz on my HTC m8 to the 2.4GHz on the Chromecast no problem and 2.4 to 2.4GHz works fine as well.
I really don't know what to suggest.

No worries, I understand you are trying.

On Chromecast, I set my region to Singapore.

On Almond+ 2.4GHz:
Wifi region is set to Singapore
Wifi mode: 11NGHT20
Wifi Channel: 9 (2.452GHz)

On Almond+ 5GHz:
Wifi region is set to Singapore
Wifi mode: 11ACVHT40
Wifi Channel: 149 (5.475GHz)

If you don't mind, would you try reseting your Chromecast and connect to an Almond+ with the above settings?

If not, I wouldn't mind trying your settings if you can provide them.

When I tested it was on the default channels which are exactly the same that you're using now, as I'd just reset my Almond+.
The country selection doesn't affect the channels you're currently using. The only difference would be that I left it at the default 11ACVHT80 but that only affects the speed of the 5GHz network.

Hi Lars,

Finally got it to work with my mobile to setup the Chromecast.
Switched off Auto Network Switch on my Note 3 and managed to connect the Chromecast.

Still cannot figure out why I was unable to set up the Chromecast from my MacbookPro.

Hi,

what did the trick for me was to factory reset my chromecast using the chromecast app, a restart alone did not help. (it shows up in the options menu once you reach the screen with the name)
Before that I had the exact same problem with the network.

Perhaps this can help someone else.

I have a similar problem (Chromecast connects to 2.4 but not 5ghz network - I understand this is normal as chromecast hardware does not support 5ghz)

My real problem is I want my chromecast to use the DNS in my router rather than google DNS (apparently they are hard coded to use google DNS).

Apparently this is possible with routers that support DD-WRT or OpenWrt. Does the Almond+ support this? (if this is a really dumb question, then please excuse my ignorance).

You can set up multiple DNS servers by logging in to the local web UI. The Almond+ supports more than the regular two DNS servers that most routers support.

Sounds like you are looking to intercepting DNS requests, UDP port 53.  Here are directions for DD-WRT. http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/OpenDNS#Intercept_DNS_Port   Almond+ is based upon OpenWRT so something similar should work..

I've tried to factory reset my chromecast, but it still won't connect after I add the network password. 

I haven't touched any Almond+ settings whatsoever.  R065
