KS Backer looking to beef up Firewall
« on: August 19, 2014, 11:01:15 am »
Kickstarter Backer from U.S., love the hardware.
Excellent potential and excited to see the software grow and improve.

Initial setup was easy, upgrade to R065 not a big deal, just a little reading of forum posts.

Goal number one for me is to beef the Firewall setup.
Thinking we need a dev team to focus on keeping the initial config as secure as possible.
Dedicate a subforum, establish a roadmap and go to work.

Would love to see a living Roadmap but for now will work with the WiKi.

Thanks to all at Securifi for getting this hardware out. Yes, the wait was tough, and the software maybe a little rough, but our expectations were managed and all of that fades into the noise after the hardware arrives and you can get to work.

Are you saying you want edit access to the Wiki  :D
Roadmaps are a bit hard to squeeze out of the software team, but I'll bring it up and see if we can't at least provide some kind of skeleton roadmap.
We have a lot of work to do for sure, I have a fair few wishes and requests on my own  :P
Glad to hear you like what you've got so far though.

Let me get my feet wet, dig into the blood and guts of this thing, make a contribution or two and I'll happily contribute to the WiKi.

Roadmaps all start with the first step and for sure it would be a living document but worth it imho.

Kudos to you and your team.

Hey, maybe I do need WiKi Edit Access. Just scanning the wiki now.

Before upgrading Firmware, ALWAYS do a BACKUP !!

The option is right there on the Firmware Update page but is not mentioned in the Procedure.
First edit I'd make is to document the Firmware Backup Procedure.

We need a BACKUP section in the Wiki that covers backing up Account Info, Cloud Info and Firmware.

I would also document the relationship between Account Info, Cloud Info and the Factory Reset. It is mentioned as a footnote in the Factory Reset Section but I would cover that in Backup Procedures as well.

Maybe also, WiKi section in the Forums for brainstorming documentation.

Your wish is granted  ;) you now have Wiki editor access.

The backup is just of the settings and admittedly this might be a good thing to do normally, we hoped we'd catch most people and make them install the firmware before they'd done any real changes to their Almond+.

We need a lot of things on the Wiki, but since I've provided 90% of the content to date...  :-\
There are only so many hours in a day I'm afraid.

I can set up new subforums quite easily, so just let me know.
