Synology and Almond+ External Access
« on: August 18, 2014, 08:38:01 pm »
Hey all,

I have recently purchase a Synology DS414 and received my Almond+. I'm new to servers and port forwarding. If someone could please shed some light on this, I've been at it for 6 hours.

In short
- Network: I have Snology Network set to my local IP address
- External Access: I have a host name (example.synology.me) with an external address
- External Accress - Router Config: lots of listed local and router ports

I'm supposed to be able to go to example.synology.me:5000 to access my server I was told as well as use this to log in with my iPhone. None of this works.

I tried port forwarding
HTTP - TCP/UDP - External Port 80 - Internal Port 80 - Internal IP address (Matches local and Synology network)
I did this for Port 5000 as well.
- I tried my IP address that matches LAN 1 which has a different last 3 digitals to my Network and Local IP.

What am I doing wrong?

Try hitting the url over the standard http port instead of 5000 and see if you get a response. If so, a firewall is blocking you.

Also, you can try YOURQUICKCONNECTNAME.quickconnect.to for remote management.

You can login here to get that info: https://myds.synology.com/support/register_ddns.php?lang=enu
