Connecting through a Netgear 24-port switch
« on: August 20, 2014, 03:55:13 pm »
Hi all,

I'm having trouble setting up my new Almond+ as a router via connection to my modem by way of a Netgear ProSafe 24-port Switch.  I have the switch supplied with a direct ethernet connection to my ISP's modem and the Almond+ connected to another port on the switch.

I have a completely separate WiFi router connected similarly to the switch (an Apple AirPort Extreme).  That router connects to the internet just fine.

Ideally I would be able to setup the Almond+ without disrupting others in my office who are using the existing WiFi connection.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
Bill

The easy solution to this is to install firmware R065 http://forum.securifi.com/index.php/topic,1396.0.html and set up your Almond+ as an access point as long as the main router to which the switch is connected to is acting as DHCP server.

Is the equipment from your isp a modem only or a modem/router combo?
Most modem only units only give one IP address.
Where do you live and who is your isp?
What is the model of your modem?
Providing this info may get you a better answer.
