Configured as router, WAN connected thru wireless bridge
« on: January 29, 2015, 11:05:57 pm »
Checking to see if anyone else has an issue. I have a mifi card, which I connect to a repurposed wrt54g via client bridge. Now, my old router worked a charm through the bridge. However, I'm having trouble with my almond+ in router mode. I'm running 69cb firmware. The interface says I'm connected to the Internet, but when I run the diagnose,I fail the time sync and https tests.

I have not yet conceded to my own error, I've been at it for a couple days now, and can't figure it out. Any thoughts?

Try setting up the Almond+ in AP mode instead, second screen in the LCD UI.

I would, but I need the almond to assign IP addresses, since the mifi is limited to 5 connections.

I thought the wrt54g was the router/dhcp server in your setup, at least that's what I presumed from your description.
We have a special WWAN mode on the Almond and I'll check when this is expected for the Almond+, as we use that to connect to MiFi type devices and phones, rather than the range extender mode, as the two are a bit different.
I'm not sure how you connect to your MiFi in router mode, unless your specific device has an Ethernet port.

I am connected to the mifi wirelessly with the wrt54g as a client bridge using the dd-wrt firmware. Then the wrt54g is connected via cable to the WAN port of the almond+. This is essentially the same as a direct WWAN configuration. If the almond+ is capable of WWAN, that would be the preferred way I would configure my network.

It's not at the moment by the looks of things, but as I said, I'll talk to the software team about getting it done.
If the wrt54g is acting as the DHCP server, then the Almond+ would get an IP address from it and you can set it up in AP mode. If not, I don't have a simple solution for now.

Thanks for the quick replies, Lars.  Unfortunately, with my configuration, the wrt54g is strictly a wireless bridge, acting as a "wire", for lack of a better word.  No worries, however.  I'll remain hopeful that the software team can sort it out easily.

With respect to the diagnostics screen, I am able to now get all tests green except for the HTTPS.  Also, the last test shows black (cloud connection, i believe).  Do you have any insight as to why this is happening?

Also, do you have an estimate if/when we can expect a new beta release?
