How do I set up my Almond + as a wireless bridge?
« on: August 27, 2014, 12:20:38 am »
I asked to make sure I could do this before I backed the Almond+, which is why I got 3 of the suckers :)  But I can't figure out how to set the thing up as a wireless bridge.

Basically I want to have my Almond+ connect to an existing wireless network, and bridge that network out to devices that are connected via ethernet.  How do I do that?

Did you update for firmware R065?
If that's done, please use the Range Extender feature for the one that'll be the bridge.
The Ethernet ports will be bridged automagically.  ;)

Is it possible to disable wireless clients on the Almond+ when in Repeater Mode? I want to use it as a strictly wireless to ethernet bridge.

Not at the moment, no.

Not at the moment, no.

Is that something being worked on? Seems like a fairly commonplace feature these days.

I don't know if I understand properly but maybe this can help as a solution:

- You can hide the 2.4 and 5 Ghz wifi so that no wireless device will connect to Almond+ in range extender mode. Only Ethernet devices will connect.

From the LCD: Wireless->Advanced Settings->Hide

Well, even easier, go into Wireless, Advanced and turn off the radio you're not using, then hide the other one.
It's not a perfect the solution, but I don't think we're planning on doing anything specific about the mode you want for now anyhow.

Would love to see this bridge mode enabled.
I want to see a way to use my cell phone (to tether to of course) as a backup internet connection.

Any chance on working on bridge mode without the wireless repeater portion?  It really seems like the bridge performance would be a whole lot better without the unit trying to rebroadcast all of the LAN data over the same SSID/frequency again..

Add another to those who want a wireless bridge mode!!  Been doing it with an ASUS to an Almond+, but cannot do it with another Almond+.

PLEASE!  This is pretty standard stuff.
