Need router only - no wi-fi..
« on: October 08, 2014, 09:56:42 am »
Hi All!  I have a question..

I'd like to use the Almond+ as my router.. connecting it to my TimeWarner Surfboard modem..  From there I want to connect my Apple Airport Extreme in bridge mode to one of the Almond+'s LAN ports to provide my wi-fi network..

How do I configure the Almond+ so that it functions as a router only with wi-fi turned off on the unit?

Thanks!!!

Hopefully your Almond+ has the latest firmware updated. Post router mode setup, turning the Wi-Fi off is quite simple through the LCD UI. Tap on Wireless>Advanced Settings> Turn OFF 2.4 GHZ and 5 GHz network. This would turn off the wireless radio of the Almond+.

Excellent!  I must have seen that there on the LCD UI and just not read it..  I've had no trouble with the Almond+ wi-fi, I just need to be able to extend the Apple Extreme network within my house and it made more sense to use it as the network base since Apple won't extend any network that isn't theirs and the Almond+ will work great as the router.

Thanks!
