Slight Ui glitches
« on: September 21, 2014, 11:21:13 am »
Seems to clip characters like when entering an O or o in text entry fields on the screen Ui.  Also the bounce/repeat/delay for the Onscreen keyboard is a bit too short/sensitive even for a resistance touchscreen. Would like to see a slightly more usable/ better keyboard layout

We know the keyboard isn't optimal and we'll be working on a new keyboard at some point in time, it's just not the highest priority as of right now.
That said, I can't reproduce what you're seeing, so can you be a bit more specific as to when this happens?

@Lars I think (i'd have to look in my post history), that i mentioned about cut off characters at one point too.

seems to be most noticible in the wifi configuration entry fields and when the onscreen keyboard it on display with the letter o mostly for some reason..
No rush for a new keyboard but the lack of debounce/delay makes it tricky to enter in settings from the LCD even with a stylus however.. Just figured id add it to the laundry list of to-dos at some point (you tap one letter and it repeats too readily)

Right, I think that varies from screen to screen, as it's hard to make resistive screen exactly identical when it comes to this. I'll discuss is with the software team.
We do apparently have a new keyboard layout in the planning stage, so expect that in 2-3 months. It'll be much better than the current design.

Not sure to what extent this might be useful. but another Linux based ARM hardware device that had some open source in it, ran into these resistive touch problems (almost all of its devices were based on resistive touch technology) ... The Chumby .... Might get ideas on how to resolve it with looking at their open source components..
