Can't reach router from outside world
« on: September 16, 2014, 02:21:22 pm »
If I try to reach the router from the outside world, either to the VPN server, direct to the web interface, or to a port I've forwarded to another machine, I can't get through. Pings time out, web interfaces never load. If I reboot, it works very briefly, then stops again. Everything internally works fine. I'm running R065, and was up for 16 days with no problems but this one, which started a few days into that uptime. One odd thing in my setup (seems odd to me anyway) is that my Comcast cable modem is giving the Almond+ a 192.168.100.x address, rather than letting it get the WAN address itself. That doesn't seem to be a problem though, as I have been able to get through to the almond briefly after rebooting.

Hi Mishakim,

It seems like most probably either Almond+ is setup in Access point mode or you are connecting it to the Gateway not just the modem. Tap more on Almond+ touch screen and tap on Access point to check if it is showing enable or reload and disable. If it is showing Enable that means Almond+ is not setup in Access point mode and it is connected to the Comcast Gateway, if not just hit disable it would revert back to Router mode. Once it reverts back to the Router mode, it would receive the WAN IP and internal LAN IP of Almond+ would be in the range of 10.10.10.254.

In order to access the Almond+ Web Interface from outside world, please try the following:

Please go to the following address on your web browser and change in place of  "DROP"  to  "Accept"

http://10.10.10.254/cgi-bin/luci/;stok=78bcb63fc9d9e7eab130932084210702/admin/network/firewall

Best Regards,

Updating to R066 seems to have fixed it for now, but then, it always seems to work when I'm in reach of the router, and then not when I leave the house. Most importantly, the Almond+ is now showing the WAN IP address instead of one from the modem. I didn't change anything yet -- confirmed AP mode wasn't enabled. On the firewall page, which setting should I change to Accept to allow remote web interface access (not that I really want that)?

Hi Mishakim,

By default we deny the access from outside network, and you have to select "Accept" under WAN-->Input to access the router from outside world.

If set up as a wireless range extender can we access the web UI by forwarding a specific or set of ports? Would love to be able to remotely access it from outside the residence. Especially while the router menu in the app is continuing to grow.
