Leviton Decora Switch
« on: November 21, 2014, 10:30:23 am »
I picked up the Leviton Decora switch today at home depot in the wink section.  It is Z-wave compatible as it says on the package "compatible with all zwave hubs"... and technically it is, but instead of an on/off option on the almond+, it has "Get" and "Set" buttons plus a status box next to the "get" button and at +/- option surrounding a box that goes from 0 to 255 next to the set button.  The cloud and iOS interfaces show "unsupported sensor". When I "set" to 0 it turns the lights off, when I "set" 255 it turns the lights on.
It is NOT a dimmer switch, just on/off.  I am still running the firmware 0067, if that makes a difference.

We haven't added support for Leviton as yet, but it's coming.

Any ETA on Leviton Zwave support? Will there be any way to add z-wave devices that are installed already and cannot be brought within 3 feet of the Almond +?

I know we've added support for dimmers in the next firmware, but apparently these are different.
We'll be getting some stuff when we go to CES, so I'll make sure we get one so we can add support for these.

Extension cord?
You shouldn't need network to add the sensor. Just move the almond + to the switch.
That's my plan anyway.

Or move the sensor to the Almond+...
The only tricky one is locks, but you can add these to the Almond+ before you install them.

I'm thinking about the in wall switches. I'm comfortable wiring them, but I don't want to cut the end off of an extension cord and wire nut everything together just to add a sensor.  I'd rather leave the cord in tact and bring the almond to it.

I've asked them to add support for these things. We have a Jasco/GE switch that they'll be adding and considering the Leviton dimmers made other dimmers work when we added support in the beta firmware, I hope the Jasco/GE switches will do the same for the Leviton switches when they're supported.
