ZWave: controllable via UDP?
« on: December 17, 2013, 08:30:58 am »
Hello,

I'm looking at the Almond+ to complement an intelligent home (which now has a mixture of KNX and a Loxone server).

Am I correct in interpreting that the Almond+ will server as a IP to ZWave interface? If so, does it mean that you can trigger ZWave devices via UDP? This would be perfect for me, as the Loxone server allows for a nice webinterface of the intelligent home, and allows for virtual UDP input/outputs.

Thanks!

Jörg

I don't have the unit yet, but if you mean UDP as in the network terminology of unverfied IP packages. Then I do not see why this should not be possible concidering the open nature of the Almond+. You might have to write or get someone to write the functionality for you, but technically it should be possible.

Thanks...
On one hand good news... but on the other, if nobody does it, it might be tricky...

Still, better to have the possibility that it might work. It is still very early days to ask such specific things about the Almond+. :)
