Hi,
Just wanted to clarify that you will never get a NAT1 connection when your behind a router/firewall appliance, even if your in the DMZ.
NAT1 is rated as direct connection with Public IP.
NAT2 is anything behind a router/firewall but does not restrict any incoming or outgoing ports/traffic.
NAT3 is a locked down device which would cause problems with your PS4.
NAT2 is perfectly fine and will not stop your PS4 from working correctly or cause any performance problems.
To improve your gaming performance:
1. Use a LAN cable to connect the PS4 to any router and use a static IP. (Try your best not to use Wi-Fi as latency can not be controlled.)
2. Determine your ISP connection speed. (PS4 Network Connection Test.)
3. QoS - Quality of Service
- This can be complicated but most modern routers will allow you to set quality of service to specific devices.
- To use QoS properly, you must know the ISP connection speed. You should set your Routers Internet speed up to 95% of your allocated Bandwidth so it never peaks out.
- Allocate your specific device as High as possible. When the PS4/Console/PC is on it will allocate a minimum amount and allow it to have the full maximum if needed. Any other device on the network will be restricted to the remaining percentage. (This may mess up streaming services if your not careful in planning.)
4. Port Forward specific ranges to the static IP of your PS4/Console/PC.
5. Bypass Scanning on outbound traffic from internal Static IP. (Not sure this is possible with OpenWRT/Almond+)
Hope this helps you.
