Guest networks in AP mode
« on: January 29, 2015, 05:11:44 am »
Hi all, I was wondering how exactly the guest network functionality works in AP mode; specifically, how is the traffic on the guest network isolated from the regular network? Other routers (e.g. AirPort) put the guest net on a separate VLAN, but I think the Almond+ doesn't currently support tagging. Is there no isolation at all on the wired side in AP mode?

right now Almond+ having Isolation enabled in Router mode
[ Guest network ssid connected clients not premitted to access resoures of Main network connected clients & Router services  ] by default.

coming to AP mode : still it is in beta stage .

For Wired [ethernet connected clients] clients there is no isolation right.

Right, I was asking about isolating clients on the wireless guest network(s) from all other clients, including wired ones. Looks like that's just not supported yet in AP mode.

Yeah I agree with RazzFazz. I think that the guest network should have a completely different subnet/VLAN to logically keep all guests off the main LAN and wireless networks. Is that something that will be changed at some point?

I definitely think it would be a good idea to specify a VLAN ID for the Guest Network.
