BellQ Users/Backers?
« on: February 04, 2015, 02:47:56 pm »
Is there anyone else that backed "The Q" RGB light bulbs? I am playing around with how they implemented their controls (the app and docs are a disaster in my opinion) and wondering if anyone else is interested? My goal would be to have them controlled (via their hub) by my Almond+, but that would require the Almond+ to be able to send HTTP requests to other items. Maybe not a bad feature to add as it would expand the Rules and HA abilities a lot, while not having to directly support linking to other products.

In any case, if you have one, let me know. I can post if I figure it out. Or if anyone is just interested in general.

We can already send requests, not sure if it's HTTP as yet, but we can talk to the Hue hub. We'll also be adding support for other IP devices in the future, but this will not be one of them.
The longer term plan is to release the source code for this to the community, but I don't know when that'll be.

They just released their github location that starts to detail what commands to use... So there may be options here.

As for Almond+ sending HTTP commands, I do not have a Hue so I do not know how it works, but if you folks make it possible for someone to send custom HTTP from their router, that would be awesome. Heck, I could even (probably) make a way for it to send weather data to Weathercloud plus other fun things. Sounds awesome.

I suppose it depends what HTTP customization needs to be done but check out the options for wget, which comes installed on the Almond+. It may be able to do what you need already.
