Zwave Plus

With more and more Zwave Plus devices coming out, it is looking like Almond+ will get left behind soon. They are already trying to catch up to the competition with regards to home automation rules and supported sensors.

VeraEdge is out now, and supports ZwavePlus.
SmartThings v2 is expected to come out in April with Zwave Plus support.

I'd like to get started using some HA rules and sensors now. Does anyone have any experience with Vera or SmartThings? I'm not sure which would be the better choice controller.

hi Zwave plus dongle is available ...like almond plus had usb port i think we can upgrade with it....and all Zwave plus devices are retro compatible with Zwave actual so no problem ...

The plan is to enable support for Z-Wave Plus via a USB dongle. That said, it's not that simple, as we have to certify the Almond+ for Z-Wave Plus as well, or we can't claim Z-Wave Plus support.
Longer term the plan is to move to the 500-series Z-Wave chipset anyhow, as the 300 and 400 series are being discontinued.

Well, the Almond 3 supports a Z-Wave Plus USB dongle. As for Almond+... You might want to email support asking them. The standard is backwards compatible, so Z-Wave Plus devices should work fine with original Z-Wave. In addition there was an announcement that Sigma-Designs was going to be releasing a new chipset (700 series) for Z-Wave. Z-Wave Plus is based on the 500 chipset. So it might be useful to look into the new one and see if it has features worth waiting for.
