Access Point with LAN
« on: March 24, 2015, 09:46:36 am »
I have a router with DHCP and whatnot, and I'd like to use my Almond+ as an access point, but also using the LAN ports.
So basically get the IP's from the WAN, and distribute over LAN and wireless.

When I set it in access point mode, it seems the LAN ports no longer connect to the internet, or maybe I'm doing something wrong?

That's strange, that should work just fine. Which firmware are you using?

Hey Lars, I figured it out (and came here to maybe help others)

The Almond+ was in router mode before, and gave out 10.x.x.x addresses, the new router gives 192.168.0.x's.
When switching the Almond to access point mode those devices somehow kept their 10.x.x.x addresses, so while they were connected to the internet it was on a different subnet so I couldn't see them from my (wireless connected) laptop.

Unplugging and reconnecting the ethernet cables fixed everything. I feel a bit silly I didn't try something like that first.
Anyway, glad it works and thanks for the reply.

Normally you're told to unplug all your cables when switching to AP mode because of this, as otherwise the IP leases aren't reset. Not sure what went wrong in your case.
