Automation/Sensor Guest Access?
« on: March 30, 2015, 09:25:55 am »
This is more of an automation question for the experts here. How do you give guest access to your smart devices connected to your Almond? Whether it's family or a babysitter, I don't really want to turn over access to my Almond app just so they can turn lights on and off. Do you setup your router in a more accessible area so guests can use the screen? Do you leave an old mobile phone behind that stays logged in?

While I haven't looked at the compatibility list I'd say add a remote and configure it to control any automation assets they would need.

30 seconds of searching found this.
http://www.amazon.com/GE-45600-Z-Wave-Handheld-Remote/dp/B0013V6RW0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1429240905&sr=8-3&keywords=z-wave+switch+remote

If you think this is an option that would work for you make sure you check out the compatibility list first.

Woah. Nice feature Lars, I just began giving my kids access to the automation, but have been leary as I await their abuse of the system... Is there any way to limit which sensors these other accounts have access to? I think this is how I am going to hook up the children. Thanks.

Not yet, but it's planned.
