Can't Add additional GE Link Bulbs
« on: April 24, 2015, 02:38:31 pm »
Very strange.  I have a few bulbs added already and work great.  They were added before upgrade.  The ones added still work, but it wont let me add any more since upgrading.  I have the bulb right next to router, and it does not see it.

How can this be?  Any ideas?

Has that bulb ever joined another network? Even so I would recommend doing the reset sequence on it, then trying to have it join again after the reset succeeds.

If you need instructions for the reset:

I just tried, light dimmed and went bright...Clicked on add sensor, and nothing.  I tried remove as well.  Nothing.  This is brand new bulb.  I have 6 new ones, and have tried 2 now.  Very Strange.  I added multiple bulbs before upgrading firmware right out of the box with no problem.

Can all these brand new bulbs have an issue??? lol    Any other solutions?

That was the main one I thought of. You just upgraded the firmware? Only bulbs since then have not worked... Hmm...

It's possible that GE has updated the firmware in the new bulbs and something has changed.
Can you try and send logs (Help, Send Logs in the LCD UI) after you've tried pairing a bulb?

We know Osram did this with their RGBW bulbs and we have some work to do there to make them work again, but at least in that case, we can still update the bulbs with the Osram hub. In the case of the GE bulbs, I don't know if they can be updated via the Wink hub or not.

Any chance of the Almond+ being able to update firmware on a sensor? I know you can do it for the Peanut Plug... But would it be possible to have an interface to apply firmware for non Securifi sensors, maybe through the WUI?

Not necessarily the problem here... But something that will likely become more important. Whether to upgrade for fixes or new capabilities or downgrade to ones we know work with Almond+ fully. As an example, I do not have a Wink hub, I just bought the bulbs directly.

I just did a little experiment.  I brought the same exact bulb that would not pair at my main home to my vacation home, and it paired immediately with my other Almond+.  Clearly there is an issue with the Almond device at my main home.  I have already sent all the logs, and there is a case open.  The problem device paired with the peanut with no problem.

Not sure what the issue is.
