Securifi Door and Window Sensor Battery Usage
« on: April 26, 2015, 07:23:50 am »
It has been a long time since I saw anything about this, but for those of you with the door and Window sensor,  how long do batteries seem to last for you? There were problems with some of the originally shipped ones (I had mixed results).

Anyways, when refreshing my sensors recently I put all new batteries in each one just over a week ago (notification log shows when I "tampered" with them). One of the set is already reporting low though... I will keep an eye on it but I was wondering if anyone else had seen anything. Good or bad news.

Opened up the misbehaving sensor and made sure the battery was seated properly. Since then the sensor appears to be working but I will keep an eye on it.

Sadly we never got any satisfactory reply from the sensor manufacturer on this issue. They found a component issue on less than 0.1% of  the PIR sensors, but they claim they couldn't find any problems with the door/window sensors.

Looking at how just moving the battery seems to have fixed it... Makes me wonder if it was not a component or battery (directly) problem but rather a minor design tweak needed. Something to ensure better contact between the battery and circuit board side maybe. Oh well. Version 2.0 if they ever make one maybe.

2 out of 4 of my original sensors arrived with Low Battery.
A third went low battery relatively quickly.

They continued to work for several months at low activity.

I have replaced all 4 sensor batteries as of today and will monitor low battery and dead battery for each sensor and make note of how long they last.
