iOS Notifications - A bit more Notification?
« on: July 19, 2015, 07:21:14 pm »
Hi All,

I know I'm lucky to have a flood sensor that is correctly working ;) and it seems to react instantly, but without the ability to add a rule to email me on flood, the notifications in iOS 1.5 are rather mild.

As far as I can see they don't show in the iOS Notifications or in the Almond app icon badge, in fact the only place I can find them is within the Almond app.

Is there any way to i) get a notification outside the app ii) activate a sound or iii) melt your phone down to alert you instantly that it's flooding :)

Thanks for any advice!

I am waiting for the same notification feature since getting the A+ off Kickstater.
It really does need a Rule to Email or text if flood is tripped.
I currently have to keep checking the App while on vacation to see if there is a water issue.

Cannot speak to Flood Sensors but other sensors, such as the a Smoke Detector, does send a notification out to the App.

On Android you have to double check that you are allowing notifications from the Almond App, same thing in IOS, you must specifically allow the notification.

The notifications show up both in the app itself and in the notification area on the phone and/or iDevice.

As for triggering events, again, using the Smoke Alarm as an example, I can write a rule that triggers a second siren when Smoke is detected or the battery drops below some percentage. I can also cause this same trigger to flash all the lights in the house, turn the hue bulbs red or flash the outside lights repeatedly.

You guys are going to make me go out and buy a flood sensor to test all of this.  ;D

But before I do, please review the info I posted and ask any other questions. Will see if I can help.

Email is a possibility, it can be done with the SDK but I'm not prepared to invest the time needed at the moment, although I could be persuaded if there were enough interest.
