z-wave dongle
« on: August 03, 2015, 11:11:59 am »
Anyone know when there will be a firmware upgrade for a Z-wave dongle?
Specifically
http://www.amazon.com/Aeon-Labs-DSA02203-ZWUS-Z-Wave-Z-Stick/dp/B003MWQ30E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1438612622&sr=8-1&keywords=z-wave+dongle
the zeebee compatability really restricts the devices that can connect to my almond 2015.
I kind of stumbled into the home automation when I purchased the Almond 2015 as a wifi range extender. The unit came with the peanut. Then I bought some LED light bulbs. Now I want to control my thermostat, garage door opener and some light switches.
Probably should have got the Almond+ but did not know about it at the time.

@ chirowolf,

Almond 2015 doesn't support Z-wave dongle, it only supports Zigbee.

A quote from your wiki  ???
http://wiki.securifi.com/index.php?title=List_of_compatible_sensors_-_Almond_2015

"Note: Z-Wave sensors are not natively supported by the Almond 2015 and will require an optional Z-Wave dongle to be connected to the USB port on the Almond 2015. Support for this has as yet to be added to the firmware, but will be added in the near future. "

This was a promised feature that has as yet to materialize.
Securifi might add it in the future still...

@ chirowolf,

I am sorry for the inconvenience caused. To my best knowledge, we may not be able to add support for the Z-wave dongle and I have corrected the Securifi Wiki. However, please allow me some time to get back with the confirmation on this.

This is quite disappointing.  I am glad you corrected your wiki, but the incorrect information is out there.  This is the danger of advertising features before you are certain you can actually implement them.

Quite disappointing.
