Almond+ range issue
« on: September 08, 2015, 08:31:53 pm »
I just got a new laptop and tried to connect it to the Almond+ in both 2.4 and 5 GHz modes. Windows 8.1 discovered both modes, but reported that it could not connect. The laptop was about 15 feet away from the router. On impulse, I tried again from 2 feet away and it worked. I seem to periodically lose packets on my PC (with double external antenna) at 5 GHz, so have been running at 2.4 GHz for reliability. I'm now wondering if this could be related.

Is it possible that my Almond+ has really terrible range? Is there any way to test or fix this? I bought it mainly for the 5 GHz mode, but can't trust it enough to use it.

No, the range is not so terrible that 15ft away is going to be a problem.

There is something else going on.
