New Almond ethernet question
« on: February 17, 2016, 02:18:52 pm »
So first, I noticed there are variations of the almond on Amazon, which one is best?

My main question is regarding speed difference between ethernet and wifi. I want to use this as a range extender in my garage and am curious if I see a speed boost by plugging my system directly into the almond ethernet port as opposed to WIFI only?

Thanks so much!

@ sean,

Technically, any Range Extender would not even give us equal speeds as of main router network, they only extend the range not the speed. If you have an option to use the Almond hardwired then you could receive good speeds and use other 2 Ethernet ports. However, if you would like to use it as a Wireless Range Extender then wants to use the LAN ports, it would still work with the better signal or connection, but the speed would be low.

I appreciate the response, i'll test it tomorrow and see if it increases my speed at all. I'm currently gettin about -65/-70dbm with network drops.
