Android, use Tasker to automate Home/Away Mode
« on: July 09, 2015, 12:37:39 pm »
Has anyone had any luck using tasker or something else to automatically set the home/vs away modes based on your phone?

I've had no luck so far figuring out a way to do it.

Just curious... Do you want Tasker (big fan of it) to set it from anywhere or are you more interested in the Almond+ "knowing" when you are home or away based on your phone?

My use case would be to automatically update the status on the phone to home or away based on a trigger, the obvious one being if it's connected (or not) to the Almond+ via WiFi. I leave home, the WiFi disconnects, the status on the phone changes to away, so I get all alerts for sensors with 'away' or 'always' as the alert setting, and when I come home and connect to WiFi the status changes to 'home' and I get alerts for 'home' and 'always' sensors. I honestly can't think of any other scenario that would makes sense.

This is a many times requested feature for the Almond+, and without having to rely on Tasker to set it for you, so maybe we will see something in the future.

The only other case I could think of to do it remotely would be if you were turning it off for a guest remotely, but the app could do that, unless you wanted to have it more automatic based on time or such.

BUMP.

Obviously it's possible to get this integrated into the Android and iOS apps, but (@ Securifi Staff) can we put this forward as a feature request please?

Home & away status based on wifi connectivity of device.

NFC on the key chain, tap it when you're home. Set Home mode and a bunch of stuff on the phone.
