Connect Almond via ethernet to Xfinity modem/routercombo ?
« on: December 09, 2015, 03:49:06 pm »
I'm a "know enough to be dangerous" kind of home networking person.  Have an Xfinity-provided modem/router combo that works fine for basic internet throughout our home.  However seems to frequently lose the connection for streaming netflix, etc. in a bedroom that is one floor lower and in a corner of the home.  I have an ethernet cable run to a nearby room and was thinking about purchasing he Almond device to improve service.  Would you recommend that as a solution?

@ hamiro4457,

Whenever there is a possibility we always suggest our users to use the Almond with an Ethernet cable by setting it up as an Access point, which is nothing but hardwired Range Extender. In your case, you can do the same with out any concerns.

To setup the Almond in Access point mode: Connect the Ethernet cable to the Almond's WAN port and through the touch screen, enable the Access point, once the Almond is rebooted it would set itself as Access point.
