Use as Extender - Wired or Wireless to router?
« on: January 23, 2016, 09:28:32 am »
Hi all,
Just received the Almond 2015.  My intent is to expand and strengthen my wifi signal throughout the house.  Where I will be placing the Almond allows me 2 connection choices to the router.  I can capture and rebroadcast the wifi signal, as I assume most people do, or, I can connect the Almond to the router via a wire (through a couple switches).

Would it be more advantageous for me to wire the Almond to the router or simply use it as a wireless connection to the router?

Thanx.

@ rbmcgee,

We can use the Almond 2015 using hardwired if we have the option, in fact, I personally suggest that to all our users and set it up an Access point mode (hardwired Range Extender). We could also setup the same name, password and security for the seamless roaming.
