Right now it shows @ $172 on sale. Also saw the zigbee led controller, do we know if that works with the almond lineup?

@mparadis: Yes it does. Support is evolving, but I have one now (I may be the only one) and it works pretty well. Have to get one of the RGBW strips (I only have RGB) to test it fully someday, but it works.

I just rechecked the Prime Day deal for the Almond+ and it is still showing as $139.99 for Prime members (according to the page, price shown at checkout). The default price shown (normal sale price) is still $171.99.

I finally went for Echo. I hope it is worth it.

I also hope Securifi improves support for Alexa. I have only used it using FireTV and not really impressed.

@Ashok - Do you know if there are any plans to use Alexa Smart Home Skills or it is going to be only Scenes for the foreseeable future?

@fillibar thanks! is the controller powered by the standard plugs that most RGB/W strips use? I must've seen the regular price and not looked closely.

The controller has a nice little press jack setup. You cannot plug the typical connector into it since it is meant for bare (press the top of the jack, stick wire in, release). Most of the strips I have gotten had a plug on one end, and bare wires on the other. There are also tons of adapters out there, or DIY is pretty easy.

As for power, the controller uses those jacks also. Not a barrel plug. It is pretty simple, the pictures on Amazon really show it all.

You also might be surprised on the size. I thought they would be much larger.

No problem. Just wish I could have bought more than one... One of my "grand" ideas is one RGB status method for each major room and bedroom. Bulb or LED strip.

I like the idea of using RGB's (also bulb or strip) for emergencies i.e. if smoke alarms go off the lights can flash red in the room where help is needed. Using a panic button? flash lights blue. Secured the house for the night? flash green once etc etc etc. But for now most color bulbs / strips w/ controller are out of my price range for that. When they are down to $25ish then it may be practical for each room.
