Almond+ HA functionality if in AP mode.
« on: September 18, 2016, 11:47:12 am »
What functionalities for HA will be left if I want to remove my A+ from router duty and use my A+ and A2015 as wireless APs only, replacing the A+ with something that actually functions as a good router without all the bugs and lack of basic router features? Can the A+ do network presence detection if it is no longer the router?

Do you mind sharing your main problems you are facing? I am getting ready to dive into this, starting with an A+. I have a ton of zigbee/zwave and wifi devices. The presence attracted me. I currently have Asus AC1900 router and SmartThings....

A bunch of minor to mid level frustrations that do not seem to be on the to do list of anyone that is in a position to fix them. Do a search on some of my more recent posts for the specifics. Short version: happy with some aspects of the product: plays well with zigbee, hue hubs, zwave devices, cloud connection is very reliable, support apps in android and iOS are well done, what automation routines I have tried are simply accomplished and run well. Using devices as presence sensors is a nice concept, the execution is a little lacking (I don't trust the list of what it says is here or not here). It's the basic router functions & features that I find not up to snuff.
