Combining Time and Weather Apps
« on: December 10, 2016, 01:21:24 pm »
I like that Securifi has a time and a weather app for the LCD. Makes use of it for much of the time it would otherwise be sitting blank. I mentioned before that with the size and "dead space" on each they could probably be combined. Now, I saw an Adafruit project that looks much as I was thinking:

Just display the top half of that screen. Maybe allow flipping to the bottom.

There are many useful things that could be done with the LCD while it is otherwise idle.

Let's hope they do combine the two.

I actually like seeing both the time and the weather.. perhaps merging them, and/or flipping between them... I keep thinking back to my Chumby....
Know thats a bit too resource intensive to go that far but having a few screens for information other than the router function is handy in a HA environment... Time, perhaps a particular sensor(sensors) temp as well as weather are useful glancible data....

Know this is way beyond the capabilities but it might give you an idea of what im referring to..

@joltdude:
Off topic, but thanks for the Chumby link. I thought it was only a clock at this point and had been looking at recycling it (I prefer my 60 RGB LED circle clocks). Now I can try to resurrect the Chumby.

I would love this.
