Weather location is incorrect
« on: February 11, 2017, 06:08:32 pm »
The Almond+ seems to think I live in Potwin, KS. Restarting has no effect.

@ umami,

The Almond+ seems to think I live in Potwin, KS. Restarting has no effect.

Try to check your WAN IP and it's location through whatismyipadddress and verify, if the location is the same or not.

No, whatismyipaddress confirms my actual location. Almond+ still thinks I am in Potwin.

Mine also reports the incorrect location while whatsmyipaddress.com is correct.

Same problem here.  Has always been correct until the last firmware update.

Now it selects a city 50 miles away.

Whatismyipaddress is correct

I'm assuming this problem is related:

I have a rule which turns lights on a half hour before sunset. Because my location is now incorrectly reported, the lights come on a full two hours early making this rule useless. It never worked reliably in any case, but seems to be more consistent now that the location is wrong.

@ umami,

In order to confirm that the issue is some what related to firmware, is it possible for you to downgrade it and then recheck, let us know the status. One more thing, ensure to reinstall the firmware back and check again. Thank you!

It appears the problem has either been fixed on Securifi's end, or has "fixed itself" on the ISP side.

Ashok, I'm sorry but I don't have the time to figure out how to downgrade the firmware at the moment. I might be able to look into this next week, but not sure how I will test this if the location is now working.

If it is working now, then we can't test it.

:'(  Same problem here.....The Almond+ seems to think I live in Potwin, KS. Restarting has no effect.  My house thermostats do not show the outside temperatures anymore from the internet and say that the weather data is corrupt. When checking into it further it talks about  local firewall blocking www.wunderground.com....When I clicked on that, it took me to a weather site and was default to Potwin. I change to my location but that did not reset the Almond+

im having the same problem my lights are set to turn on 45 minutes before sunset but on weatherunderground it states that im in canada not california which is causing my lights to turn on at 2pm. my question is why are our scenes and rules set to correlate from a random incorrectly fetch able internet weather source versus the NTP time source that is provided. i mean i can understand some false positives from using weather to adjust setting based off the weather but to have our time pulled from that just sound's like a poor setup
