Click to turn on/off hue
« on: March 03, 2017, 05:10:55 pm »
I just got my almond click 3 pack.   My main reason for getting this was to get a manual on off for my hue bulbs in my bedroom.     I don't see a good way through rules or IFTTT to make this happen.    Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

I believe the applet should be there already for this and you may find it at https://ifttt.com/search/Almond%20click

This applet could be a sample. I do not have a Hue to try, but wouldn't you be able to change it to be on/off instead of the current random color?

I did get this to work by building out my own IFTTT trigger .    That was fun doing these..     The response time (20 minutes) on the click to turn on the lights though is really dissapointing.   Is there any way to improve this?

At one time IFTTT was pretty quick, but seems to have gone downhill.

Not much unfortunately. That is really all on IFTTT's side.

This has been a major complaint with IFTTT in general with all services for a very long time.

Thanks for the response gents.    The response time of course varies...it has been as fast as 3 minutes or less at times:^)  looking on the bright side

I have generally used IFTTT for things that I do not need IMMEDIATE responses for. Tracking, warnings about stuff... but not things I want to know immediately or things like lights that other people (ie: family) might expect to react immediately.

Even if everything was running quick... there are just too many steps in the process for it to be fast enough for those type of results. At least in my experience prior to the Almond and since.
