Ping watchdog on Peanut Plug?

Is there a way to set up a ping watchdog so a Peanut Plug can be used to reboot a router if it locks up?

No. There is no test for if the router can reach a device or not. Plus if the router was truly "locked up" it would not be able to contact the Peanut Plug. The Plug itself has no smarts to say "I have not been contacted..." Most sensors are designed only to send data to a controller. Querying one from a controller is not as common.

All that said... You can reboot the Almond+ using a Rule. It is an option towards the end of the possible THEN actions. I have read of cases where people set theirs to be rebooted daily of based on various factors. I have not needed to do this personally but it is possible.

Sorry, I did not explain what I want to do properly.  I didn't mean if the Almond router is locked up, I meant my cable modem/router locks up, which it frequently does.  I would assume the Almond+ would have to send a command to the peanut plug to open/close in the event the Almond router could not ping it's gateway or google DNS but I do not have any options under "network devices" in the rules setup.     I guess the Almond+ doesn't count as a network device itself.

No problem at all.
Similar answer though... Almond+ does not check the WAN connection not have an IF value related to it's own network connection. A network device on your cable modem/router would not be on the Almond+ also so it could not be a network presence sensor.

Boils down to... You could have a time or other trigger that would turn off the Peanut Plug, wait 5min (or less) then turn it back on.

Ok I guess I will have to stick with my original plan to use a ubiquity mPower Wifi Mini plug as a ping watchdog for that one device.  Thanks.
