Lost Device
« on: March 23, 2017, 04:42:43 pm »
So my Smart Light Osram light bulb was found all setup and working for a few days, I had many light settings all to the colors I want and now for some reason it lost the lightbulb though power had been cut to it before.  I had to pair it again and it found it but this time instead of showing as an Osram light it was some generic light and all my settings are lost.

Here is my light bulb http://amzn.to/2mZnnKq

I am not sure exactly what the name was before but I know it had Osram in it before which was just the default name but it didn't show that this time it found it. I would try naming it the same thing if I could.

If a device has to get added again, it is treated as a new device. If you had Rules or Scenes set up you could add the new one in but settings specific to the old one (even if it is really the same device) are lost.

I have read about this happening for other people's light bulbs on the forum. Sometimes traced to it being a light switch someone flipped a bunch of times (resetting it) sometimes with no idea why it happened. But it has been the bulb typically. None of my GE Wink bulbs have done this but I do know other people have seen it on those. Not sure about OSRAM though, I cannot remember reading about one prior to yours.

Thanks for all the information that is very helpful.  I wouldn't doubt it if my children had turned the light switch on and off a bunch of times since it is a colored bulb and they probably enjoyed seeing the 3 colors it cycles through everytime you turn on the light switch.  Probably messed something up somehow, I would image that if it is using a MAC address that wouldn't change though so kind of strange.
