Time problem - this seriously needs to get fixed
« on: March 23, 2017, 09:05:53 pm »
I've had it with my A3 not reliably staying on any time zone. It randomly jumps time zones with no warning. Not only that, but I can't see what time my router thinks it is from the Android app, nor can I adjust the time from the Android app. I read the explanation for why this occurs, and I understand. However, I do not accept the idea that there's no solution to it.

Either:
1) Fix the problem; or
2) Develop a work-around for the problem; or
3) Give me my money back for all the Securifi products I've purchased.

The LCD UI has a beta Time app on it, but it doesn't do anything other than tell me what time my router actually thinks it is right now - and that's the only way I can see it because the web UI doesn't work correctly regarding time either. Seriously, if this cannot be fixed, then as great of an idea as the A3 is, it is insufficient for my purposes.

Have you emailed or called Securifi's support about it to see if there is anything further they might be able to do? Not sure if any of it is possible, but maybe disabling NTP then setting a manual time?

I haven't seen any way to do that, but it would be an acceptable workaround if it can be done.

I'll have to get in contact with them. It's getting ridiculous - today, for the first time, it actually jumped ahead. It normally drops behind.

Just curious, is it by hours? So the NTP is getting different values thinking your IP is in different regions... Maybe. Just guessing here.

I'm pretty confident that is what is going on. There has to be around it, though. I'm going to try and call them tomorrow.

Has this been fixed? I had the same problem for months, but for the last 4 weeks the time zone has been accurate and has held firm.

If you did not update firmware than there was no "fix". What could have happened is the zone lookup database could have been updated, or your ISP might not have switched IPs on you lately (which also helps lookup). I do not think Securifi uses their own lookup database for this (I think I saw that previously in a different time-related posting).

@ Dalehill,

Ensure that we are using the latest app and firmware is updated on the Almond 3, on the App-->Wifi-->Advanced Router Features-->TimeZone.
