Almond has an odd definition of "Access Point"
« on: May 31, 2017, 10:10:23 am »
I purchased this to use as an access point - that is - to allow a wired device to connect to a wireless network.

When I tried to setup almond as an access point - it tells me to plug the WAN to the router?????
It's supposed to wirelessly connect to the router as a device - then switch to a bridge mode to what is plugged into the LAN port.

Don't advertise a feature that your product can not do.

waste of time

You need to get YOUR terminology right
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_access_point
"wireless access point (WAP) is a networking hardware device that allows a Wi-Fi compliant device to connect to a wired network."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_repeater
"takes an existing signal from a wireless router or wireless access point and rebroadcasts"

Yeah, something's weird here.
Rerun the setup wizard for wireless AP without anything plugged into WAN or the LAN ports. Once you have basic AP mode going, then connect something to your ethernet ports - should serve out ethernet without issue.
I may have my own issues with Almond's feature set, but setup ease isn't one of them. I've run wireless AP/bridge mode and wired AP mode on my A2015 with no issues and really easy setup. If you have setup problems, Securifi support is very responsive, or ask questions here on the forum.
