What to do with unused wall mount dimmer switch?
« on: March 09, 2018, 04:47:47 pm »
Hi, I have an unused Z-Wave wall mount dimmer switch and don't know what to do with it. It is still connected to the mains but does not have a load anymore (I had two loads to control so went with hidden nano-switches).

I was hoping to rules such that the switch behaves like the Almond Click buttons. Where you have single tap, double tap, and long press inputs.

Does anyone have a suggestion on what to do with this switch.

Could a rule be created to turn this switch into another button?

I tried the following rules. It only works when I toggle the switch via the web interface and if I double tap the switch (see https://forum.securifi.com/index.php/topic,4277.msg30352.html#msg30352).

Rule #1: If Dimmer Level > 50% -> Light On
Rule #2: If Dimmer Level <= 50% -> Light Off

I use the Linear/GoControl WD500Z-1 Z-Wave 500-Watt Wall-Mount Dimmer Switch.

Thanks!

The problem is with the Linear switches themselves. While good switches, they do not automatically notify the controller if they are manually pressed. You have to double tap them, and then they USUALLY send the signal. But you have the right idea from your Rules examples from what I see.
