z-wave with Linear HUSBZB-1 (Nortek)
« on: October 01, 2018, 11:00:35 pm »
Purchased subject z-wave USB dongle.  Inserted said dong.  Green light illuminated but no z-wave option in "Add Sensor".  Tried remove/reboot/wait/re-insert with no luck.  Any ideas?  Would SO be nice to have some sort of feedback on the web UI/app/LCD that the dongle is recognized.

Same dongle as shown here: https://products.z-wavealliance.org/products/1494

When you go to add sensor. Does it say Z Wave? If so it is recognized and working.

@ rdcorle,

Under the Add sensor, right bottom see anything which says "Z-wave via USB"?

I have been struggling with it myself because I expected Z-Wave to be shown on the left hand side tabs like it does on the Almond Plus. Instead, it show the text at the bottom which I think is misleading. I took it as “please insert a Z-Wave Stick in the USB port” rather than “I have detected a Z-Wave Stick in the USB port”.

I hope Securifi will make this simple UI update so that it looks more like the UI of the Almond Plus.

I have confirmed that both Aeotec and ZOOZ sticks work.

Funny, because when I got my Almond 3, which works the same way, I thought it was odd... but wihtout a separate button for adding Z-Wave vs ZigBee, I got pretty used to just handling everything together. That is kindof the beauty of it. If you have a Z-Wave dongle, great! It can add things in and they will work just fine. If not... then you can use the ZigBee with no real change. Mix and match, or not. No separate workflow.

That is the way how it works on Almond Plus too.

The difference is that the top left tab shows Zigbee / Z-Wave.

The point I wanted to make is that a slight UI change would make the UI less confusing.

When no Z-Wave dongle is inserted, the top left button only shows Zigbee; if the Z-Wave controller is inserted, shows Zigbee / Z-Wave as on the Almond Plus.

I'll be honest, I cannot remember all the details about my Almond+ now. But the UI never changed because it always had Z-Wave, since it was built in. It does seem like a fairly simple change though.

On the Almond Plus, the UI never changed, because the hardware never changed. On the Almond 3S, the Z-Wave USB stick is optional. Currently, the UI changes on the Almond 3S depending on whether you have a Z-Wave stick inserted on not.

My point is that the description is confusing.

No. It was not created with EJS.
But we are working on this now.
Paco will re-write EJS code, and we are studying how to generate apk code for android system,
and we hope EJS can generate apk for android in the future.
