Peanut pairing issues
« on: December 28, 2018, 05:34:28 pm »
I just bought two plugs from Amazon. From everything I can tell in the manual and online, when I plug them in they should flash red and green and be in pairing mode. Mine do nothing. I've held the pairing button down 10 seconds to reset them, unplugged, and plugged them back in. A red light flashes for a few seconds, and then goes dark again. Neither are discoverable.

I can press the power on/off button manually and the switch functions (and the green led comes on and off), but it refuses to go into pairing mode. Any ideas?

I would try holding the pairing button down longer, maybe 15 seconds. Sounds like you are doing the things you should.

If they are still failing I would try holding the pairing button as you plug it into the wall and keep holding for 15 seconds...

I just did one the other day that didn't want to at first. Took about a minute with different button configurations to figure it out but I can't recall which worked!

Why is it so difficult to pair Peanut Plugs??? Disgusted about this.  Have tried all kinds of button configurations.  LED blinks red if the load lamp is not on or red/green if the load lamp is turned on.  The Peanut Plug has previously been paired... (why it must be done again is another disgusting story about loosing all settings in an Almond used as Range Extender... probably also lost all of my Rules too!)

I did move closer, in fact just next to the hub but with same results. Looks like if I just cancel out and look at device list, I can see a device marked as “Thing”. I could not change the device type from mobile app mywegmansconnect. However I was able to log into the cloud account and change the device type from " Unknown" to " GE smart switch (ZigBee)" and voila! It started working correctly.

Thanks all for the help. Appreciate it.
